IFS Therapy & Coaching

IFS Therapy & Coaching

Reconnecting with Your True Self

At Noriko Noda Medical & Coaching, therapy is not limited to symptoms or diagnoses. We focus on understanding and supporting the whole person. Sessions are primarily based on IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy), and may also integrate Havening Techniques® and approaches that respect neurodiversity.

IFS (Internal Family Systems Therapy)

IFS was developed in the 1980s by Dr. Richard C. Schwartz, a family therapist in the United States.

  • Our inner world consists of multiple “parts” (inner characters).
  • Some parts take on protective roles in daily life, while others carry past wounds.
  • Through gentle exploration, we can ease conflicts between parts and heal the pain caused by trauma, anxiety, shame, or self-criticism.

IFS has been shown to be effective for PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, addictions, chronic pain, and more. It emphasizes reconnecting with the Self, beyond diagnostic labels, making it suitable for those seeking deeper self-understanding and self-compassion.

Havening Techniques®

Havening was developed in the 2000s by Drs. Ronald and Steven Ruden in the UK. It is a psychosensory therapy based on touch and neuroscience.

  • Uses gentle touch (arms, hands, face) combined with imagery and words.
  • Aims to calm the amygdala and reduce the impact of traumatic memories and fear responses.
  • Applied in PTSD, anxiety disorders, phobias, acute stress, grief, chronic pain, and self-criticism.

Havening is used internationally, including in emergency care, war trauma support, and disaster recovery. When combined with IFS, it enhances emotional safety and allows for deeper psychological healing.

Support Respecting Neurodiversity

We approach developmental and cognitive diversity (such as ADHD, autism spectrum, learning differences) not as traits to be “fixed,” but as characteristics to be understood and valued.

  • Improving ADHD self-management skills
  • Adjusting environments to respect sensory and cognitive needs
  • Supporting relationships with family and others

E-DISC (Extended-DISC)

E-DISC is a short, approximately 10-minute test that analyzes an individual’s behavioral patterns.

Based on the results, we explore how the client behaves in their current situation (such as in the workplace or at home), and how this may differ from their natural behavioral tendencies. Coaching is then tailored using these insights.

It helps clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves, and also allows the coach to determine the most effective approach for each individual.

A detailed report is provided to the client, making it possible to revisit the results anytime after the session. When taken as a family or team, it can also enhance communication and improve group functioning.

We particularly recommend it in the early stages of coaching.

Fee: NZ$400 / 1 hour
(Longer profiling sessions are available upon request, depending on your needs and budget.)

Client Reviews

Eiko Motomiya – Auckland, New Zealand

At the age of 70, while continuing to pursue dreams overseas, I felt I had run into the “wall of age” within myself and needed to reset. Through Noriko’s precise questions, and my own sincere attempts to respond, I was able to uncover my true core and inner voice.
This discovery brought me relief and joy. I became clear about what I wanted to hold onto and what I could let go of (and it was a completely different picture from what I had initially imagined!). With this new clarity, I feel grounded and able to make concrete choices for my life.
Noriko has the rare ability to accept even the most sensitive or spiritual topics without judgment, while guiding with questions that keep the process on track. She helps you reach the place you yourself are truly seeking. I can wholeheartedly recommend her, regardless of the nature of the challenge.

AM – Auckland, New Zealand

Before working with Dr. Noda, I lacked self-confidence and had no vision of what I wanted or who I wanted to become. I didn’t even know what I valued in life.
What I learned was the importance of being “conscious” and intentional. Instead of drifting through life, I learned to set goals, work backward, and live with awareness. This shifted my daily life in small but powerful ways.
Especially after learning how to reframe my negative thoughts into positives, I regained confidence and brightness. I also shed many limiting beliefs, which opened up my perspective like never before.
It may sound dramatic, but these sessions truly changed my life for the better. I now feel more joy and positivity every day. Even if difficulties arise, I know how to overcome them, and that gives me peace of mind.
I would recommend these sessions not only to those who are struggling now but also to anyone who wants to enrich their life. Simply experiencing Noriko’s warm smile and presence will uplift you.

YO – Auckland, New Zealand

When I was feeling lost about work and the future, I came across Noriko’s blog and decided to try coaching. I wanted to leave my job and start my own path, but I didn’t know how to proceed, and felt frustrated with myself.
From the very first session, I felt safe knowing my thoughts were truly heard. Through her objective questions, answers I hadn’t imagined began to surface, and it felt like a fog lifting from my heart.
After three sessions, I had found many answers and shifted from feeling pressured to move fast, to feeling okay about progressing steadily and with patience.
Because Noriko has long experience as a medical and mental health professional, her coaching carries both depth and reliability. I felt I could trust her completely. I hope many others in need will also benefit from her support.

オークランド ニュージーランド

I was struggling with communication in my family, and after moving, I had also lost confidence in myself. With two teenagers and the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, tensions in our home were high.
Through Noriko’s coaching, I gained new insights and learned to approach situations more calmly. I even found the courage to start studying English conversation online, which I had been avoiding due to lack of confidence.
As I began to take action, family communication improved and there were more smiles at home. I’m deeply grateful for meeting Noriko and for taking the step to work with her. It was absolutely worth it.
