Compassionate Parenting Begins Within

Thriving Parenting

“Thriving Parenting” places the care of parents first, creating a foundation where they can engage with their children from a place of safety and trust.

What is Thriving Parenting?

It is an original program that integrates neuroscience with IFS (Internal Family Systems), Polyvagal Theory, and NVC (Nonviolent Communication). By prioritizing the emotional stability of parents, it provides the foundation for supporting children’s growth.

Understanding children and oneself through the lens of neuroscience

Supports emotional regulation and the development of independent thinking skills.

Prioritizing parents’ self-care and self-understanding

When parents feel safe and grounded, they can build more stable and nurturing relationships with their children.

Improving communication with children and nurturing relationships

Reframes conflicts and distance issues based on understanding and empathy.

CPS is an approach developed by Dr. Ross Greene in the U.S. and further advanced at Massachusetts General Hospital in collaboration with Dr. Stuart Ablon. It focuses on understanding the underlying causes of challenging behaviors in children and resolving them collaboratively with parents and caregivers.

Based on the principle that “kids do well if they can” (skill, not will), CPS avoids one-sided instructions or reward-and-punishment systems. Instead, it emphasizes collaboration and problem-solving, fostering children’s self-regulation and communication skills as they work alongside adults as partners.

CPS is applied not only in families but also in schools, healthcare, and child welfare settings, and is recognized as effective in supporting children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, and other diverse needs.

In 2024, I became the first certified CPS practitioner who can provide lectures in Japanese, and I now offer training for those interested in learning CPS.
